What is a life without children? – Purananuru 188

A man may have earned great riches,

he may eat with many,

he may have great wealth of possessions.

Yet if he has no children

who cover the ground with tiny steps as they walk,

who stretch out their little hands,

who put their food on the floor,

bite it,stir it,

and throw it,

delighting him as they cover themselves

with rice and ghee,

then all the days he lives

are worth nothing.
