மறாஅதவனும், பலர் ஒன்று இரந்தால்,
பெறாஅஅன் பேதுறுதல் எண்ணி, பொறாஅன்,
கரந்து உள்ளதூஉம் மறைக்கும்; அதனால்,
இரந்து ஊட்குப் பன்மையோ தீது
384.
Even the person who doesn’t deny, when many come begging for the same,
Thinking of the bewilderment of those who don’t get ,
He withholds to those he can give and conceals what he has.
Hence for those who beg and eat, crowd is bad.

பலர் கூடி வந்து யாசகம் கேட்டால், கொடுக்கும் மனம் உள்ளவனும் கிடைக்காதவர்கள் செய்யும் கூத்தை எண்ணி கொடுக்காமல் போய்விடுவான். பலர் ஒரே பொருளுக்கு ஆசைப்பட்டு யாசகம் கேட்பது துன்பத்தில் முடியும்.
