திதலை அல்குல், துயல்வரும் கூந்தல்,
குவளை உண்கண், ஏஎர் மெல்லியல்,
மலர் ஆர் மலிர் நிறை வந்தெனப்,
புனலாடு புணர் துணை ஆயினள் எமக்கே.

வயலில் மலர்ந்த ஆம்பல் மலர் சேர்த்து அமைந்த அசையும் தழை ஆடையும், தேமல் படர்ந்த அல்குலும் அசைந்தாடும் கூந்தலும்,
குவளை போன்ற மைபூசிய கண்களும் உடைய அழகிய மென்மையானவள்
மலர்களைப் பரப்பி வெள்ளம் நிறைந்து வந்தபோது
புனலில் புணர்வதற்கு துணை ஆனாள் எனக்கு!

Beautiful soft natured girl,
With Swaying dress ,
made from stems of waterlilies from the field,
Kohl filled eyes like water lily,
Swaying hair,
Venus mons with beauty spots,
became my partner to play and embrace
in the streams which was fed by
the floods
which came with beautiful flowers

Notes:
திதலை அல்குல் – titalai alkul

Alkul – straight meaning is pubic mons, vaginal area. This is the primary meaning used in Sangam literature. Women’s beauty is described by her breast and vaginal areas in these poems. Avoiding recency bias (of victorian era costumes), being topless or naked were common due to weather in Ancient India and Tribal cultures. Translators and commentators usually avoid this meaning to make poems palatable for all readers. They usually use waist or side as a substitute.

அல்குல் alkul (p. 140) – n. < id. [M. alkiṭam.] 1. Side; பக்கம். கவைத்தாம்பு தொடுத்த காழூன் றல் குல் (பெரும்பாண். 244). 2. Waist; அரை. பூந்து கில்சே ரல்குல் காமரெழில் விழலுடுத்து (திவ். பெரு மாள். 9, 7). 3. Pudendum muliebre; பெண்குறி. (திருக்கோ. 9.)

Thithilai in this context is described as beauty spots on Labia. This could be either mole or natural dark spots on vaginal area or it could be spots of oil glands known as Fordyce spots.

திதலை titalai (p. 1876)

Yellow spots on the skin, considered beautiful in women; தேமல். பொன்னுரை கடுக்குந் திதலையர் (திருமுரு. 145). 2. Pale complexion of women after confinement; ஈன்ற பெண்களுக் குள்ளவெளுப்புநிறம். ஈன்றவ டிதலைபோல் (கலித். 32).

Per Lexicon description this could be yellow spots which look like gold sparkle as in the image depicting Fordyce spots.

புனலாடு புணர் துணை ஆயினள் எமக்கே.
