196. மருதம்
வேம்பின் பைங் காய் என் தோழி தரினே,
”தேம் பூங் கட்டி” என்றனிர்; இனியே,
பாரி பறம்பில் பனிச் சுனைத் தெண்ணீர்
தைஇத் திங்கள் தண்ணிய தரினும்,
”வெய்ய உவர்க்கும்” என்றனிர்-
ஐய!-அற்றால் அன்பின் பாலே.

வாயில் வேண்டிப் புக்க கிழவற்குத் தோழி கூறியது. – மிளைக் கந்தன்.

Even if my friend gives you unripe green neem fruit

You would say it tasted like sweet soft plam jaggery

Now even if he serves cold the clear water

in the month of Thai from cool spring of Pari’s Parambu hill

you say its hot and salty.

Lord such is state of your love.
