One of the poems which illustrated why Kamban is hailed as one of the greatest Tamil poets.
Situation: Hanuman is in search of Sita in Lanka. Finally seeing her in Ashoka vanam, he goes to her and identifies himself. To prove he was a messenger from Rama, he shares Rama’s ring to her.
Hanuman narrates the below lines to Rama once he is back from Lanka and meets him in Kandadevi nears Rameshwaram.
ஒரு கணத்து இரண்டு கண்டேன்;
திரு முலைத் தடத்து வைத்தாள்;
வைத்தலும், செல்வ! நின்பால்
விரகம் என்பதனின் வந்த
உருகியது; உடனே ஆறி
வலித்தது; குளிர்ப்பு உள் ஊற.
In one instant I saw two reactions!
When she kept your ring between her breast,
It boiled and melted due the passion fire
caused by the ire of your separation !
Then the ring instantly cooled and solidified
as happiness of reuniting crept in her!

நான் ஒரே கணத்தில் இரண்டு நிகழ்வுகளைக் கண்டேன்
உங்களுடை (இராமரின்) ஒளி பொருந்திய மணி மோதிரத்தை
சீதை தன் முலைகளில் இடையில் வைத்தாள்;
உங்களை பிரிந்த விரகதாகத்தின் விளைவாக
கொழுந்து விட்டு எரியும் தீயின் வெப்பத்தில் உருகிய மோதிரம்
உங்களின் நினைவு உள் ஊறி குளிர்ந்து
ஆறி தன் உருவை மீண்டும் பெற்றது!
Usage of words உள் ஊற ul oora (that seeps in) is used by Vairamuthu in Then merku paruvakatru song. Mazhai thota idam nee thendavoo ninaikayil nenjoodu ullura kal ooruthe (thought of you, touching me in the place which rain drops has touched me, feels like toddy seeping inside me).

கற்க நிற்பது எழுத்தாளருக்கு பாலின்பம் ஒன்றுதான் போலும். திரையுலகுக்கு இத்தொழிலைச்செய்யவிட்டு இலக்கியத்தின் அறிவுரையைப்பரப்ப இவருக்கு இறைவன் அருள்நல்குக. ஆழி காப்பையும் முலை அடிமையையும் உருவகமாக்கி இறைபிரிந்தநிலை உயிருக்கு மெய்நிலையல்ல என்ற செய்தியைக்கம்பன் ஆழ்வார்களையும் நாயன்மார்களையும் அடியொற்றிப்பறைவதை சிற்றின்பநோக்குடன் விளக்குவது தமிழர் பெண்ணசை ஒன்றே அறிந்தவர் என்று தவறான செய்தியை உலகுக்கு வழங்கும். எழுத்தாளரை மீறித்தமிழ் வாழ்க.
