Situation: Thalaivi (Heroine) confesses to hero that not only in this life but in lives to come after she wants him to be her husband and she wants to be his sweet heart. But what stands out in this poem is the simile comparing squirrel teeth to water thorn flower pollen tube.
குறுந்தொகை 49, அம்மூவனார், நெய்தற் திணை – தலைவி தலைவனிடம் சொன்னது
அணில் பல் அன்ன கொங்கு முதிர் முண்டகத்து
மணிக் கேழ் அன்ன மா நீர்ச் சேர்ப்ப!
இம்மை மாறி மறுமை ஆயினும்,
நீ ஆகியர் என் கணவனை,
யான் ஆகியர் நின் நெஞ்சு நேர்பவளே. 5

Man of the shores,
Where squirrel tooth like
mature pollen tubes of Waterthorn
And water is dark as sapphire,
Even if this life ends and next life comes
You will be my husband,
And I will be the one
who complies with your heart!

நீயே என் கணவனாக இருக்கவேண்டும்,
You – become – my – husband
யான் ஆகியர் நின் நெஞ்சு நேர்பவளே. 5
நானே உன் நெஞ்சிற்கு ஏற்றவளாக இருக்கவேண்டும்.
