Situation: Thalaivan (Hero) is having an affair with Parathai (the other women). Thalaivi (Heroine) is sulking about it and bad mouthing that Parathai stole his man away from her. Parathai utters this poem to indicate that it was Thalaivan who was behind her and he is like a bee who tastes various flowers. The poet comes up with beautiful visual imagery to spice up this poem.
குறுந்தொகை 370, வில்லகவிரலினார், மருதத் திணை – பரத்தை தலைவனைப்பற்றி கூறினது
பொய்கை ஆம்பல் அணி நிறக் கொழு முகை
வண்டு வாய் திறக்கும் தண் துறை ஊரனொடு
இருப்பின் இரு மருங்கினமே, கிடப்பின்
வில்லக விரலின் பொருந்தியவன்
நல் அகம் சேரின் ஒரு மருங்கினமே. 5

If the man from the cool shores
where bees feed and open
plump closed buds of beautifully colored
white water lilies on the pond
stays
we are two bodies!
When the man with the fingers
which clasps me tight onto his good chest
like a bow, while lying down,
we are one body!

- Bee opening closed bud to taste flower’s honey -> Thalaivan is like Bee, he will go behind any women, I (Parathai) was like the closed bud, he only opened me up to enjoy me. I didn’t steal him from you (Thalaivi).
- If he stays in my house, we are two bodies -> I don’t go and hug him while he is here. I don’t initiate any contact with him.
- We are one body when he clasps me tight on his chest like he clasps dow with his fingers -> I don’t take a lead, he only comes here out of desire and takes me with his manliness. I desire him for his manliness. So stops bad mouthing that I am stealing your lover!

நல்ல மார்பினில் சேர்ந்திருந்தால் ஓர் உடலாக இருப்போம்
