புல் அரை ஓமை நீடிய
புலி வழங்கு அதர கானத்தானே.

poṉ cey pāṇṭil polaṅkalam nantat,
tēr akal alkul avvari vāṭa,
iṟantōr maṉṟa tāmē, piṟaṅku malaip
pul arai ōmai nīṭiya
puli vaḻaṅku atara kāṉattāṉē.

நிச்சயமாக தாமாகவே சென்றுவிட்டார் உயர்ந்த மலையில்
புன்மையான அடிமரத்தைக் கொண்ட ஓமை மரங்கள் நீண்டு வளரந்த
புலிகள் உலாவும் காட்டு பாதையிலே!
