Surpanaka describing Rama Part 1- Kamabaramayanam

I have previously posted Ravana describing Sita’s beauty. Now I am posting Surpanaka describing Rama’s beauty.

இராமன் அழகை வியத்தல் (2840-2855)

2840.
‘சிந்தையின் உறைபவற்கு உருவம் தீர்ந்ததால்;
இந்திரற்கு ஆயிரம் நயனம்; ஈசற்கு
முந்திய மலர்க்கண் ஓர் மூன்று; நான்கு தோள்
உந்தியின் உலகு அளித்தாற்கு ‘என்று உன்னுவாள்.

‘The God of Love ‘ she thought,” who lives in the heart
had his body destroyed and Indra has a thousand eyes.
Siva has three eyes like flowers and Brahma
who created the world from his navel has fours arms.

2841.
‘கற்றை அம் சடையவன் கண்ணில் காய்தலால்
இற்றவன் அன்றுதொட்டு இன்றுகாறும் தான்
நல் தவம் இயற்றி அவ் அநங்கன் நல் உருப்
பெற்றனன் ஆம் ‘எனப் பெயர்த்தும் எண்ணுவாள்.

I think this is the God of Love who was destroyed by flames
from the third eye of Siva whose massed and matted hair
is lovely and bodiless, the God has done arduous tapas
since then to gain a form more beautiful than before.

2842.
‘தரங்களின் அமைந்து தாழ்ந்து
அழகின் சார்பின;
மரங்களும் நிகர்க்கல;
மலையும் புல்லிய;
உரங்களின் உயர் திசை
ஓம்பும் ஆனையின்
கரங்களே இவன் மணிக் கரம் ‘
என்று உன்னுவாள்.

“His arms are handsome and long, as canons of good looks
prescribe, and even the trees are not their equals, even the mountains
compared to them are tame. They seem trunk of those elephants
who with their elephants support the high directions of air.

2843.
‘வில் மலை வல்லவன்
வீரத் தோளொடும்
கல் மலை நிகர்க்கல;
கனிந்த நீலத்தின்
நல் மலை அல்லது,
நாம மேருவும்
பொன் மலை ஆதலால்,
பொருவலாது ‘என்பாள்.

“Mountains merely of stone do not match the shoulders of the hero
who is skilled at fighting the with the bow. Even famous Meru
cannot compare with them unless it were not of gold
but a great mountain of dark and ancient sapphires.

2844.
‘தாள் உயர் தாமரைத்
தளங்கள் தம்மொடும்
கேள் உயர் நாட்டத்துக்
கிரியின் தோற்றத்தான்
தோளொடு தோள் செலத்
தொடர்ந்து நோக்குறின்
நீளிய அல்ல கண்;
நெடிய மார்பு ‘என்பாள்.

He seems himself a mountain of with his noble eyes
that are like petal of lotuses high on their stems.
If I tired in one glance,to corss his broad chest
from shoulder to shoulder ,my eye would be too small.

2845.
‘அதிகம் நின்று ஔதரும் இவ்
அழகன் வாள் முகம்
பொதி அவிழ் தாமரைப்
பூவை ஒப்பதோ?
கதிர் மதி ஆம் எனில்
கலைகள் தேயும்; அம்
மதியெனின், மதிக்கும் ஓர்
மறு உண்டு ‘என்னுமால்.
Does the bright face of this beautiful man shining
with unwavering intensity resemble the bud of the lotus
that has opened into flower? Not the moon whose rays wane
can equal it,nor the full moon streaked by a flaw.
