‘எவன் செய, இனிய இவ்
அழகை எய்தினோன்,
அவம் செயத் திரு உடம்பு
அலச நோற்கின்றான்?
நவம் செயத் தகைய இந்
நளின நாட்டத்தான்
தவம் செயத் தவன் செய்த
தவன் என்? ‘என்கின்றாள்.
To what purpose does he who has gained such a sweet beauty
punish himself so that his lovely body uselessly suffers?
That this lotus-eyed man, the sight of whom is continual joy,
should do tapas, what tapas did tapas itself perform?
2847.
‘உடுத்த நீர் ஆடையள்,
உருவச் செவ்வியள்,
பிடித்தரு நடையினள்
பெண்மை நன்று! இவன்
அடித்தலம் தீண்டலின்
அவனிக்கு அம் மயிர்
பொடித்தன போலும் இப் புல் ‘
என்று உன்னுவாள்
Fortunate is the Goddess of the Earth to have been born a woman,
she who wears the ocean for a robe,whose swaying is graceful
as an elephant.Because the soles of his feet have touched the grass,
it seems as if the earth’s hair is standing up on end!
2848.
‘வாள் நிலா முறுவலான்
வயங்கு சோதியைக்
காணலனே கொலோ
கதிரின் நாயகன்
சேண் எலாம் புல் ஔத
செலுத்திச் சிந்தையின்
நாணலன் மீமிசை
நடக்கின்றான் ‘என்றாள்.
Has the sun who is the lord of light not seen this radiance,
this glow of a being whose smile is like glistening moonlight,
that he goes on his way without shame in his heart,spreading
his lesser light on high through all the distances?
2849.
‘குப்புறற்கு அரிய மாக்
குன்றை வென்று உயர்
இப் பெருந் தோளவன்
இதழுக்கு ஏற்பது ஓர்
ஒப்பு என உலகமேல்
உரைக்க ஒண்ணுமோ?
துப்பினில் துப்புடை
யாதைச் சொல்லுகேன்? ‘
This man with his huge shoulders like towering mountains
has a lower lip for which no comparison possible
on this earth is adequate.What could I ever find
to say that the marks a redness even greater than coral?
2850.
‘நல் கலை மதி உற வயங்கு நம்பிதன்
எல் கலை திரு அரை எய்தி ஏமுற
வற்கலை நோற்றன மாசு இலா மணிப்
பொன் கலை நோற்றில போலுமால் ‘என்பாள்.
For the happiness of encircling this lovely waist that dispels
the darkness, I think that not even a golden robe
could have done the tapas of that bark garment
for this noble being who shines as brightly as moon.
