Brahmins were respected for their negotiation skill during Sangam age and were valued as messengers. There is a puram poem where a Brahmin stopped war just through his negotiation. Here our hero who is full of love asks Brahmin messenger a crazy question. After all love makes a person crazy.

பார்ப்பன மகனே பார்ப்பன மகனே
செம்பூ முருக்கின் நல் நார் களைந்து
தண்டொடு பிடித்த தாழ் கமண்டலத்துப்
படிவ உண்டிப் பார்ப்பன மகனே
எழுதாக் கற்பின் நின் சொல் உள்ளும்
பிரிந்தோர்ப் புணர்க்கும் பண்பின்
மருந்தும் உண்டோ மயலோ இதுவே.
Oh Son of Brahmin

And carrying curved bowl holding food
Is there any remedy to unite separated lovers
in your unwritten scriptures.

The poem has reference to red flowered Murungai. Murungai flowers are white. But they seem to be Red when are in state of bud. While in full bloom they are white.
Murungai Tree – Just imagine the barks taken off the thin Trunk/Branch – it makes a good support staff.
