Situation: Thalaivan (hero) is wedded to Thalaivi (heroine). He leaves to earn wealth, with a promise of returning back before monsoon season. it rains, Thozhi (friend) tries to convince Thalaivi that this was unseasonal rain. Thalaivi utters this poem. #MEMEthokai #karkanirka
குறுந்தொகை 200, ஔவையார், முல்லைத் திணை – தலைவி தோழியிடம் சொன்னது
பெய்த குன்றத்துப் பூ நாறு தண் கலுழ்
மீமிசைச் தாஅய வீஇ சுமந்து வந்து
இழிதரும் புனலும் வாரார் தோழி,
மறந்தோர் மன்ற, மறவா நாமே,
கால மாரி மாலை மாமழை 5
இன்னிசை உருமின முரலும்
முன்வரல், ஏமம் செய்து அகன்றோரே.

mīmicaic tāaya vīi cumantu vantu

maṟantōr maṉṟa, maṟavā nāmē,
kāla māri mālai māmaḻai 5
iṉṉicai urumiṉa muralum
muṉvaral, ēmam ceytu akaṉṟōrē.

மறந்துவிட்டார் நிச்சயமாக; மறக்கவில்லை நாம்;
பருவ மழை மாலையில் மாமழையின்
இனிய இசையுடைய இடியும் முழங்கும்
முன் வருவேன் என்ற காவல் (வாக்கு) கொடுத்து சென்றவர்
