399. மருதம்
ஊர் உண் கேணி உண்துறைத் தொக்க
பாசி அற்றே பசலை-காதலர்
தொடுவுழித் தொடுவுழி நீங்கி,
விடுவுழி விடுவுழிப் பரத்தலானே.

வரைவு நீட்டித்த இடத்துத் தலைமகள் தோழிக்குச் சொல்லியது. – பரணர்

 

In the village tank while drawing water from the banks,

Sensitive to the impact (of pot hitting water) the moss moves away

Like my love sickness which

Goes away with each touch of my lover

And spreads each time he lets go of me!

ஊர் கேணியில் உள்ளப் பாசிப்
படித்துறையில் இருந்து
நீர் இறைக்கும் பொழுது
விலகுவதுப் போல்
என் காதல் நோய்
அவன் தொடுத் தொட நீங்கி
விட விட படர்கிறது!

பசலை – பசலையானது, காதலர் – தலைவர், தொடுவுழி தொடுவுழி – நம்மைத் தீண்டுந்தோறும், நீங்கி – நம் உடலை விட்டு அகன்று, விடுவுழி விடுவுழி – பிரியுந்தோறும், பரத்தலான் – பரவுதலால், ஊர் உண் கேணிஉண்துறை தொக்க – ஊரினரால் உண்ணப்படும் நீரையுடையகிணற்றின் உண்ணுந் துறையினிடத்தே கூடிய, பாசி அற்று – பாசியைப் போன்றது.
