Situation: Thalaivi (Heroine) is in love with Thalaivan (Hero). Thalaivan after initial period of love, stops meeting Thalaivi. Thalaivi’s loneliness makes her lose her beauty. Thozhi/Panki (friend of Thalaivi) utters this poem so that Thalaivan can over hear it. She says that heroine lost her beauty since the day she met Thalaivan.
குறுந்தொகை 109, நம்பி குட்டுவனார், நெய்தற் திணை – தோழி தலைவியிடம் சொன்னது, சிறைப்புறத்தானாக இருந்த தலைவன் கேட்கும்படி
முடக்கால் இறவின் முடங்கு புறப் பெருங்கிளை
புணரி இகு திரை தரூஉந்துறைவன்,
புணரிய இருந்த ஞான்றும்
இன்னது மன்னோ, நன்னுதல் கவினே.

From the moment you embraced
the man from the shores
where Shrimps with bent legs and curved backs
are abundantly washed ashore by the sea waves
Your fine forehead was ruined!

Notes:
Sea is supposed to be home of the Shrimps, but it has washes the shrimp away to shore to their death -> Thalaivan is supposed to be sanctuary for Thalaivi, but he has deserted Thalaivi and leading her to her death!

வளைந்த கால்களைக் கொண்ட இறால் சுருங்கிய முதுகையுடைய பெரிய கூட்டத்தை
