ஐங்குறுநூறு 103, அம்மூவனார், நெய்தல் திணை – தோழி செவிலித்தாயிடம் சொன்னது
அன்னை வாழி! வேண்டு அன்னை! புன்னையொடு
ஞாழல் பூக்கும் தண்ணந்துறைவன்
இவட்கு அமைந்தனனால், தானே
தனக்கு அமைந்ததன்று இவள் மாமைக் கவினே.

aiṅkuṟunūṟu 103, ammūvaṉār, neytal tiṇai – tōḻi cevilittāyiṭam coṉṉatu
aṉṉai vāḻi! vēṇṭu aṉṉai! puṉṉaiyoṭu
ñāḻal pūkkum taṇṇantuṟaivaṉ
ivaṭku amaintaṉaṉāl, tāṉē
taṉakku amaintataṉṟu ivaḷ māmaik kaviṉē.

ஞாழல் ñāḻal has been identified with multiple flowers. I have taken Aglaia elaeagnoidea (Priyangu, Sokkalai) based on flowering season, and ability grow near costal areas like punnai.

Priyangu
Flowering:September-December.
Cinnamon:
late December to the end of February
Caesalpinia cucullata:
November-February

Punnai:
Flowering can occur perennially, but usually two distinct flowering periods are observed twice a year, in late spring from April to June and in late autumn from October to December

ஞாழல் பூக்கும் தண்ணந்துறைவன்

ஞாழலும் பூக்கும் குளிர்ந்தத்  துறையைச் சேர்ந்தவன்

Gnanal flower – blossom – man from cool shore 

இவட்கு அமைந்தனெனால், தானே

ivaṭku amaintaṉaṉāl, tāṉē

இவளுக்கு தகுதியானவன்!  தானே

For her – suitable became – on her own

தனக்கு அமைந்ததன்று இவள் மாமைக் கவினே.

taṉakku amaintataṉṟu ivaḷ māmaik kaviṉē.
