குறுந்தொகை 359, பேயனார், மருதத் திணை – தோழி பாணரிடம் சொன்னது
கண்டிசின் பாண பண்பு உடைத்து அம்ம
மாலை விரிந்த பசு வெண் நிலவின்
குறுங்கால் கட்டில் நறும் பூஞ்சேக்கை
பள்ளி யானையின் உயிர்த்தனன் நசைஇ
புதல்வற் தழீஇயினன் விறலவன் 5
புதல்வன் தாய் அவன் புறம் கவைஇயினளே.
O bard! Look at this beautiful moment opening up!
In the night when the cool white moon has spread
The victorious one embraced his son
Who was sleeping on mattress spread with pleasant smelling flowers
On the short legged cot and
breathing hard like an elephant in its resting place.
and his son’s mother came from his behind and embraced him!
பாணா இந்த அழகானத் தருனந்தைப் பார்!
சிறியக் கால்களைக் கொண்டக் கட்டிலில் மேல் உள்ளப் பூ வாசம் வீசும் மெத்தையில் உறங்கும் யானையைப் போலு பெருமூச்சு விட்டுத் தூங்கும் தன் புதல்வனைத் தலைவன் கட்டி அணைத்தான், அவன் புதல்வன் தாய் அவன் பின்னே வந்து அவனை கட்டியணைத்தாள்!
Situation:
Thalaivan is married and has a child. But bored with his martial life, he has extra marital affairs. Then he bored with his affairs and wants to come back into family life. So he sends a Bard or his friend as his messenger. Wife usually does one of the three actions
- Shuts the door on him
- Lets him in, but doesn’t talk to him or respect him
- Accepts him with happiness
In this poem the wife takes up option 2 of letting him in but not talking to him. So Thaliavan enters house and with all love he goes and hugs his kid. Seeing the transformation of Thalivan , Thalaivi changes her mind and as a surprise to him, hugs him from his back to show her love for him.
